Gold Coast five-eighth Greg Bird will miss up to a month after scans on Monday revealed he had suffered a hamstring tear in Friday night's 24-10 loss to Brisbane. The NSW Origin representative suffered the injury late in the game stretching forward to pull in a Scott Prince pass. He had scans on Monday and the Titans' doctor told him he faced three to four weeks on the sidelines. It's a savage blow for the Gold Coast who have hit a form slide, winning just two of their past eight games and slipping down the NRL ladder. Coach John Cartwright however has several options available which include playing utility Mat Rogers or the versatile Preston Campbell in the No.6. It's an untimely break for Bird who had played himself back into top form, reclaiming his NSW Origin jumper earlier this month. |
