Savoire Vivre filly tops in Tasmania

Seven Mile Beach trainers David and Scott Brunton capped a record breaking season when their smart filly Cervelo won the Huon Valley Wine Cellars Hcp in Hobart on Sunday.

Cervelo (2f  Savoire Vivre - Bianchi by Aliocha) was racing first-up after a four month spell and she made light work of 58kg to score by nearly two lengths.  It was the 78th winner of the season saddled up by the father and son team in Tasmania.  The speedy filly had won by three lengths on debut at Elwick in March.

"She is a nice filly and I'm looking forward to her performing well in some good races next season," Dave Brunton predicted.  "She will go for a break and be brought back to prepare for the 3YO Cup in Launceston in November."

Cervelo helped her sire Savoire Vivre top the million dollar mark in earnings for the first time this season.  The Armidale Stud resident sired 27 winners of 40 races and his prizemoney totalled $1.04 million.  He finished some $60,000 behind Grenville Stud's defending champion West Quest.

Savoire Vivre's chief earner this season is the Brunton trained sprinter-miler Life To The Full.  He won the LR George Adams Hcp and LR Newmarket in Launceston and the MRC Pink Ribbon Cup at Caulfield.

"Life To The Full will be back in Melbourne for the Bobbie Lewis at Flemington on September 4," Brunton said.  "He's just getting better and better as he gets older.

"I like the Savoire Vivres.  They've got a bit of an attitude when they first come into work but that's not a bad thing.  We've been able to harness it and turn them around."

The Bruntons have 20 rising two year-olds on the books and there are a half-dozen by Savoire Vivre.  He is a son of Sadler's Wells and stands at Armidale Stud for a $4,400 (inc gst).
