Swiss Rose did best in a three-way photo finish to win the Mode Stakes by a short half head. The win provided her NZ-based sire Thorn Park with his seventh individual stakes-winner.  Purchased for $70,000 at Karaka's Premier Sale, Swiss Rose hails from a precocious family that includes last season's G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward for Effort (Exceed and Excel) and G2 Maribyrnong Plate winner Catnipped (Rory's Jester).  A half-brother to Swiss Rose by Falkirk has been catalogued for Karaka 2010 in the Windsor Park Stud draft.

Rabbuka showed no ill effects off a 27-week lay-off, leading all the way to win the Festival Stakes by just over a length.  "He always races well fresh and three trials had him hard and fit," jockey Jash Parr said.  "He's just a tough open handicapper and makes his own luck.  He was never going to get beaten."
Rabbuka now has won 7 races from 18 starts including the oomben Handicap and Listed Peter Gallagher Stakes.  Rabbuka is one of six winners for the stakes placed Explosive and is half-brother to G1 Coolmore Stakes winner Northern Meteor (Encosta de Lago) who is now based at Widden.
