A daring Michael Rodd ride was the catalyst for Zipping's third successive Sandown Classic.  Not happy with the moderate tempo, Rodd urged Zipping to the lead well before the field turned for home and the Danehill gelding responded under hands and heels to score by just under a length.  The win also gave new trainer Robert Hickmont his first feature win.  Zipping is the first stakes winner for Social Scene and hails from the same family as multiple G1 winners Scorpion (Montjeu) and Electrocutionist (Red Ransom).  He has an unraced two-year old half sister by Fastnet Rock.

Promising Viscount gelding Kidnapped had to pull out all the stops to give Darley its second consecutive Sandown Guineas.  Settling just off the speed, Kidnapped got past the leaders at the 250 metres but was forced to dig deep to hold off Majestic Music to score by a half-neck.  He is by Oakland Park sire Viscount Kidnapped and is the third winner for the unraced Youthful Presence, making him a half brother to Listed SAJC Hill Smith Stakes winner Deledio (Testa Rossa).  The dam has an unraced two-year old colt by Octagonal named Energetic and a yearling filly by Canny Lad.

Nine Tales ended a five week drought in town for Caulfield trainer Mick Price in the Sandown Stakes.  Raheeb had been his last city winner at Flemington on October 5.  Nine Tales was well positioned midfield by Craig Newitt before easing wide and heading off a wall of horses at the finish
Nine Tales is one of three winners for Silk.  He is an older half brother to the stakes placed Silkyanna (Anabaa).  Second - dam Biscay Dancer (Biscay) is a half sister to dual Group 1 winner Marwong (Whiskey Road.)

Imported mare Dane Julia broke her Australian duck with a hard-fought win in the G3 Summoned Stakes.  Formerly based in South Africa where she was a G1 winner, Dane Julia was purchased by Sean Buckley and sent to Lee Freedman at Rye.  She added a second G1 win to her CV back in April when she won the Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes in New Zealand, but had failed to break her Melbourne duck in 17 outings last Saturday.  She is one of three winners for the Australian bred Precious Julia who is a half sister to the stakes placed Quiet Style (Canny Lad).

Clueless Angel has emerged as WA's best 3YO filly after a gutsy win in the WA Guineas.  Race favourite Thorn Dancer appeared all over the winner when he joined Clueless Angel inside the 200 metres, however, to the filly's credit she pinned her ears back to give apprentice jockey Alan Kennedy his biggest success to date.  Clueless Angel was a $130,000 buy for Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers at the 2008 Perth Magic Millions.  She comes from a family that has supplied numerous black-type winners for leading owner-breeder Bob Peters.  Her dam Petite Angel was an Ascot winner for Peters in March 2001.  His cerise and white silks have also been carried by her close relations Old Nick (WA Fruit 'n' Veg St-G1), Mogul (WA Easter Stakes-G3) and the Listed winners Lady Belvedere and Lady Belgrave.  Petite Angel is also the dam of Impact (Eternity Range) who has won 8 races in Singapore.  She has a 2yo filly by Stormy's Son and a yearling colt by Due Sasso.

The boom on WA sprinter Hay List burst when he was well-beaten by Revolition in a memorable edition of the Colonel Reeves.  Sitting just off the speed in the early and middle stages, Revolition drew clear from his rivals inside the final 300m to notch his biggest career win by just over a length.  A son of Rangeview Stud sire Key Business, Revolition is the third stakes winner from the grand producing mare Prospect Sky.  A Listed winner of the Burgess Queen Stakes, Prospect Sky has produced Winterbottom Stakes winner Noble Sky and Belmont Guineas winner Volition.

Elliotto forced his way into the $1million G1 Railway Stakes with a determined win in the RJ Peters Stakes.  It was a two horse duel up the home straight, with Colour Correct, who was also trying to gain a start in the Railway Stakes, fighting on powerfully after racing three deep throughout.  Elliotto was able to fight back, after clearly been headed by Colour Correct and score a short head victory.  A son of Wattle Brae resident Easy Rocking, Elliotto is one of four winners for Tanamur, who is a lightly raced half sister to Listed Kalgoorlie Gold Cup winner Forehand (Bellotto).
