Timeous won two trials during a winter prep but he was beaten four lengths by Search Me on debut at Belmont.  The well-related Danetime gelding won another trial when he returned from a spell last month and, with the removal of blinkers, he scored by a half-length when produced second time out. 
Timeous is a younger brother to Megatic, a G1 winner of the WA Kingston Town Classic and G2 West Australian Guineas.  Their dam Mega Role, who is a half-sister to G1 WA Winfield Stakes winner Old Role, has a 2yo colt named Parkega (Bletchley Park).

Fun Spice's connections collected a third Westspeed bonus when the unbeaten Real Jester gelding completed a winning hat-trick at Ascot.  He had won twice up to 1200m at Pinjarra in October and this win over 1500m confirmed there is more improvement to come. 
Fun Spice is by Rory's Jester sire Real Jester and is from a half sister to Listed WATC Canara Sprint winner Solid Bond (Jon George).  Spice foaled a colt by Yarradale sire Medal of Honor in September.

Fighting Affair was beaten seven lengths when making a belated debut at Mt Barker on November 2 but he backed up a week later to win this Albany maiden by a nose.  The winner is from the first crop of former Fairfields Stud sire Fighting Falcon who now stands at Heytesbury.  His second dam Gay Affair was a Fairfields homebred who won the 1979 West. Australian Oaks (G1) and 1980 WATC Anniversary Cup (LR).  Fighting Affair has a yearling half-brother by Key Business.


Albany - November 9

Stewards ordered a vet test for Movie World after she disappointed on debut at Ascot in December 2007.  Owner Bob Peters sold her for $16,000 at the Perth Magic Millions in July.  Now based in the Great Southern, she resumed after a long lay-off to win her maiden comfortably.  Movie World is by Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Arazi, who is based at Independent Stallion in Victoria, and is a half-sister to 2005 Perth Cup (G2) winner Crown Prosecutor (Grand Lodge).  Their dam Dark Hope is owned also by Peters and she has a 2yo Flying Spur filly named Significant, a yearling colt by Flying Spur and she foaled another colt to the Arrowfield sire on October 16.

Exquisite Timing finished close up behind Grand Nirvana on the LR Supremacy Stakes at Ascot in March and had been placed at all three starts this season before taking the next step in this Ascot midweeker.  The Blackfriars filly is the last foal from Stop The Clock who was pensioned last year.  Stop The Clock, a winning half-sister to G3 WA Sires' Produce Stakes winner Starbaleta (Zabaleta), is the second dam of Listed KBRC Boulder Cup winner Impact Rating (Blackfriars).

Promising 3yo Destino completed a running double at Ascot after an earlier win at headquarters in October.  He had been placed behind the talented Fun Spice at his other outing at Pinjarra.
Destino is by leading sire Bletchley Park from Crystal Slipper Stakes (LR) winner Genuine Girl who is owned by Touchstone Farm's Brad Hamtpon.  Her other foals include Perth winner Girl In A Storm (Metal Storm).  She has a 2yo sister to Destino, a yearling filly by Oratorio and was covered by Touchstone sire Flying Pegasus last December.

My Becks continued her rise up the staying ranks with a comfortable two length victory when stepped up to 2200m at Ascot.  The Second Empire mare can be a handful but has a good win in her for owner-breeder Brian Nathanson.  My Becks earned her first black type when placed behind Grand Journey in the Natasha St (LR) and WA Oaks (G3) in March.  She is an older half-sister to recent Belmont winner My Sweet Lil (Mosayter).  Their dam My Zapherine has a yearling filly by Pearl Of Love and a filly foal by Saxon.

Like A Vain only does enough to win and he brought up a hat-trick with a typical hard-fought head victory at Ascot.  His previous wins were by a long neck and a short neck.  He is a younger brother to multiple Perth winner Beau Rancher who is also prepared by Jim Taylor.
Like A Vain was bred by Leslie Rintoul who stands the former Tilden Park horse Vain Rancher at Parkview Thoroughbreds.  Freda's Folly has a 2yo colt by Vain Rancher and a yearling colt by Bletchley Park.


Geraldton - November 13

Mr Emiseven failed to pay his way around the provincial circuit before David Harrison sent him north for a three length victory at Geraldton.  He is by Lynward Park leader Bletchley Park and is the last foal from English Garden who died in October 2006. 
English Garden and her Adelaide stakes winner sister Singing Wonder were member's of Jim O'Connor's broodmare band at Milluna Stud.  Singing Wonder foaled AJC Reginald Allen Hcp (LR) winner Reign Of Honour (Military Plume) who in turn foaled G1 VRC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Spectatorial, a son of Spectrum now standing in NZ.


Geraldton - November 13

Western Kiseki took 24 starts to break his maiden.  Despite that record, he was installed a $2.40 favourite at Geraldton and duly saluted by a length.  His dam Keshet is a sister to Getting Closer, a G1 winner of the WA Railway St and Doomben 10,000.  She has foaled 11 winners and has a 2yo gelding named Keshaar (Xaar), a yearling gelding by Trade Fair and a colt by Cape North foaled in September.

Liquidation made the early running before yielding to Danerip.  He took control in the straight and had enough in reserve to defeat the fast-finishing Most Secretive by a length.  The winner will now be set for the 3yo features in the Placid Ark Stakes and Lee Steere Classic.
Trainer Darryn Pateman bought Liquidation as a weanling at the John Roberts dispersal sale.  He is from an unraced half-sister to WA St Leger (LR) winner Imaginaire (Fusaichi Pegasus) and stakes placed 3yo Proart (Rock of Gibraltar). 
Second dam Beaux Art (Nomrood) was a G1 winner of the WATC Derby and a G2 winner in Sydney (AJC St Leger) and Melbourne (MVRC Feehan St).


Bunbury - November 16

Mineours Luck had been runner-up at both Belmont starts during a winter campaign and was thrown in at the deep end first-up this prep when unplaced in the LR Belgravia Stakes.  He appreciated the huge drop back in class but only had a short head to spare at the finish.
Mineours Luck is by Danetime from an unraced NZ bred mare who descends from Irish G3 winner Lone Bidder (Auction Ring).  Take The Strain has a 2yo filly by Magic Of Sydney.


Bunbury - November 16

Armed Response came good after 14 attempts to win a maiden.  He scored by three lengths and is bred to go on with it now that he has finally found the line.  The winner is by Durham Lodge sire Blackfriars and is a half-brother to Listed KBRC Boulder Cup winner Hotel Casuarina (Dauberval).  Their dam Shades Of Savile was runner-up in the 1997 Western Australian Oaks (G2) and is a half-sister to Listed WA Ngawyni Stakes winner Shady Shadow (Chanteclair).  Her first foal Marri Park Special (Dauberval) has won 8 races at Perth and the provincials.
